Richie Sambora’s Response to the LA Fires

Richie Sambora, best known as the legendary guitarist of Bon Jovi, has long been admired for his soulful music and big heart.

The Los Angeles fires caused unimaginable destruction – claiming lives and leveling over 12,000 structures. 

Sambora, who lives in LA, was thankfully far from the danger, spending the past months in New Jersey to care for his mother, Joan, who just celebrated her 89th birthday.

Although Sambora was safe, the fires hit close to home. 

Concerned for his friends and neighbors back in LA, he opened his house to those displaced by the disaster. 

At the same time, he worried about something deeply personal: his guitar collection.

“My guitars are my lifeline,” Sambora said. “They’re more than instruments—they’re part of who I am.”

Friends stepped in to help protect the collection, easing his mind in a time of chaos.

Using Music to Make a Difference

In the face of this tragedy, Sambora turned to what he knows best—music. He pledged all proceeds from his song “I Pray” to fire relief efforts.

“When I wrote ‘I Pray,’ I was thinking about resilience and the struggles people face,” Sambora shared. 

“I never imagined it would take on this kind of meaning. When fans told me it gave them strength, I knew I had to do something more.”

“I Pray” is a heartfelt tune filled with themes of hope and perseverance – exactly what people need during such a difficult time. 

By donating the song’s proceeds, Sambora is showing how art can be a force for good, offering not just comfort but real, tangible support.

A Legacy of Kindness

Sambora’s decision to give back isn’t surprising. 

He’s built a reputation for connecting with people on a personal level. 

A recent example of this can be seen in the Netflix documentary Norman’s Rare Guitars.

The film highlights a touching story about Sambora’s friendship with Kyle Grady, a young fan who sadly passed away from cancer. 

Sambora didn’t just meet Kyle – he formed a real bond, offering support and kindness during the young man’s fight.

And while Jersey has a Sopranos-like reputation, it’s a state filled with emotional and empathetic people.
