It was one of the nicest airport experiences I've had in a long time to fly with Alaska Airlines out of Alaska Airlines EWR Terminal. Alaska Airlines, which is housed in Terminal B, may not have the biggest presence at EWR, but its overall experience, efficiency, and quality of service more than make up for it. Based on a recent round-trip flight, I'm thrilled to express how pleased I was with their services in this review.
Check-In and Baggage Services
I started my trip early in the morning and arrived at Terminal B with a decent level of expectation and coffee in hand. The check-in desks for Alaska Airlines were staffed and easily accessible. I decided to check in and print my bag tag at one of the self-service kiosks. My luggage tag and boarding pass were created in a matter of minutes thanks to the user-friendly UI. Before directing me to the baggage drop, a kind Alaska agent who lived nearby said "Good morning" and assisted me in securing the tag. It was self-service for the most part, but it was quick, effective, and extremely personal.
Security and Passenger Assistance
Although Alaska Airlines has no control on the TSA screening, their presence in the vicinity of the security area undoubtedly facilitates it. A representative from Alaska was stationed close to the security line entry, prepared to respond to inquiries and guide travelers to the appropriate lane. They even helped arrange wheelchair service for another traveler, and I witnessed them assisting an elderly couple who were uncertain about how to manage their carry-ons. They did that, even though they weren't required to, and they did it with love and patience.
Gate Area and Boarding Services
Once through security, I made my way to the Alaska Airlines gate. Terminal B itself has been upgraded in recent years, so the seating was clean and ample, and there were charging stations nearby. The Alaska gate agents were already present, engaging with passengers and calmly handling seating changes and upgrade requests. What impressed me most here was how approachable they were. I had a question about my connecting flight, and the agent not only checked my details but also offered to print out an updated itinerary just in case I needed it later.
Boarding was called right on time, and it was handled in a very organized way. Group numbers were announced clearly, and the staff at the gate offered assistance to anyone who needed extra time to board. I watched as they patiently helped a parent flying solo with two young children, allowing them to board early and even helping them fold up a stroller. It’s that level of consideration that makes all the difference.
In-Flight Coordination and Arrival Services
While in-flight service is separate from terminal services, I believe it reflects the same culture. Onboard, the flight attendants were warm and attentive, and everything—from beverage service to the pre-landing announcements—felt polished and professional.
Upon arrival back at EWR, the Alaska team once again delivered. My luggage arrived quickly at the baggage claim area, and there was an Alaska Airlines agent right there by the carousel, available to answer questions and assist with any baggage issues. It’s rare to see airline staff that are involved at this stage of the journey, but Alaska Airlines clearly takes pride in being available throughout.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Alaska Airlines provides a very easy and satisfying travel experience in Terminal B of Newark Liberty International Airport. From luggage handling and check-in to boarding and arrival, every facet of their service is managed with professionalism, care, and kindness. They are unique not only because everything functions well (though it does), but also because the employees actually seem to care about the traveler's experience.
I highly recommend Alaska Airlines if it's an option for you and you're thinking about flying out of EWR. It's more important to feel appreciated and encouraged throughout the journey than it is to just get from point A to point B. That is made possible by Alaska Airlines, and they have gained my allegiance for further trips.
